Jazz Brunch, Shieldhill Hotel, Biggar

Sunday, 27th May 2007, 11am – 2pm
Enjoy a perfect Sunday morning with good food and top quality jazz out on the lawn at the Shieldhill Castle Hotel. The Alan Pendreigh Trio will play and the award winning restaturant at the Shieldhill (2 AA rosettes) will provide the brunch accompaniment. Drop in or book ahead to enjoy a traditional breakfast or something more in tune perhaps - like coffee and bagels with a wodge of cheesecake to follow and just let the music set the tone.

The Alan Pendreigh Trio

Jazz trio led by one of the most innovative and established Jazz drummers in Scotland - Alan Pendreigh. "Infallible sense of pulse and time", Penguin Guide to Jazz.

Pendreigh has played with some of the top names in British Jazz at concert venues ranging from the Queens Hall Edinburgh to Ronnie Scotts, London. Essentiallly a modern Jazz drummer who is also at ease playing traditional jazz. Pendreigh will be performing with George Lyle, an equally established double bass player who is always in great demand for sessional work and 'dazzling' pianist Ronnie Carruthers. The trio will play a combination of Jazz standards and some intriguing original compositions.

To book ahead contact the Shieldhill Hotel on 01899 220035. Further information at www.shieldhill.co.uk . In the event of inclement weather the brunch will be held in a marquee. There will also be a barbeque available. There is no charge for the entertainment.
