Outdoor Photography with Allan Devlin
Have you ever struggled to find the words to convey the magic of a place only to find that your pictures don't do it justice either? Well now's your chance to learn the tricks of the trade from an outdoor photography professional.
Allan Devlin will take you through the basics of digital outdoor photography. The full day course will include designing a photograph, using the available light, preparing for a shoot and an outdoor walk to put in all into practise. At the end of the day there will be an opportunity for you to prepare an image for printing and maybe even for sale. The CATCH IT bus – a mobile computer suite - will be on hand throughout the day. Participants should bring their own camera however only those with a digital camera and the necessary connector cable will be able to prepare an image for printing.
Allan Devlin is out on the hills most days taking photographs for a number of photographic libraries. He is also a regular contributor to The Great Outdoors magazine. Outdoor Photography magazine and Dumfries, Galloway and Borders Life.
Course Content
- 9.30 - Getting started and introduction
- 9.45 to 12.30 - Designing a photograph; Rule of Thirds, Balancing an Image, What makes a good photograph,
Using light to create a photograph; different colours of light, low light etc
Preparing for a shoot, format cards, spare batteries etc
Special equipment for Outdoor photography; macro lenses, filters, reflectors etc. - 12.30 - 13.30 - Lunch
- 13.30 - 16.00 - Walk
- 16.00 - 17.00 - Computer suite; Talk about software, File formats to use, Preparing an image for printing or selling.
Cost: £40 (includes lunch) per day.
Maximum number of participants: 8 per day.
